Fillingham Weston Associates (fwa) are a boutique style agency for interesting voices and clients come to fwa because they like the different outlook and want a more approachable agent, preferring the USP of a smaller more adaptable agency.
fwa are passionate, hands-on and approachable and at the same time tenacious, resilient and tough as anything on behalf of our clients. We pride ourselves on being nimble and adroit to face new challenges for clients and the industry.
We’re as happy plugging a gap on an existing brand at short notice as we are working on a slower burn passion project, always aiming to match a client to the projects for which they’re best suited and vice versa.
fwa are members of the Personal Managers Association and the Musical Theatre Network.
Janet Fillingham has a passionate belief in the power of storytelling to inform, educate and entertain and loves being an ambassador and a broker for her writer and director clients. Before setting up jfa in 1992, Janet spent 13 years at Anthony Sheil Associates where she talent-spotted Sue Townsend whose iconic SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 ¾ started life as an audition piece. Delights from jfa years have included HOLD THE SUNSET Charles McKeown’s original comedy series for BBC1 starring John Cleese, Alison Steadman, Jason Watkins, Anne Reid and Sue Johnston; Paul Walker’s Series Producer work on TV3, Ireland’s popular continuing drama RED ROCK; and Allan Plenderleith Head Writing on DEER SQUAD an animated series for the 4-7’s which is the first co-produced, co-financed project from a partnership between iQIYI, China and ViacomCBS International Kids.
Projects in development for fwa include: Rose Tremain’s award-winning THE GUSTAV SONATA with Sandhya Suri writing the adaptation and directing for Film 4/Buccaneer Media; a Christmas 2022 movie for Universal 1440/Netflix which Phil Hawkins will be directing and international tv dramas in gestation from Tina Pepler and Paul Walker.
Kate Weston has worked with fellow literary agent Janet Fillingham for over a decade and the rebrand of jfa to fwa cements this working relationship in 2021. In addition to literary work, Kate’s career has also covered theatrical and music representation from opera and ballet (S A Gorlinsky Ltd) to the music business (E P Records) via regional theatre touring and management (Charles Vance Ltd) West End, Broadway and international touring (CSS Stellar/Michael Storrs Music). For over 20 years she represented, managed or produced high profile musical artistes, notably Elaine Paige, and writers, creatives and presenters, including Anne Robinson. This all contributes to a broad base of experience and knowledge of the wider industry for her clients.
Recent highlights with jfa have included British musical theatre licensed worldwide such as TOMORROW MORNING by Laurence Mark Wythe, adaptations I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, book & lyrics by Teresa Howard, and ANGELA’S ASHES by Howell & Hurt. With fwa 2021/22 sees the Mayflower 400 production at TRP of THIS LAND with text by Nick Stimson, Alan de Pellette working on new live-action CBBC drama and a television comedy drama format for BBC Studios by Morag Fullarton.
